Delftware factory Royal Delft
Our journey begins at Royal Delft, the last remaining Delftware factory founded during the Dutch Golden Age. For almost four centuries, this historic manufactory has preserved one of the Netherlands' most celebrated artistic traditions.

Here, Delftware becomes much more than a national symbol or a decorative souvenir. It tells the story of global trade, cultural exchange, craftsmanship and the changing ideals of beauty that shaped Dutch society.

As we explore the factory, we follow the remarkable journey of Delftware—from its inspiration in Chinese export porcelain to its place in European decorative arts. We also discover how a centuries-old craft continues to evolve while remaining deeply connected to its heritage.

This is not simply a factory visit. It is an opportunity to learn to see.

During our visit we explore:
  • the origins of Delftware and its development through the centuries
  • the influence of Chinese porcelain on European ceramics
  • the culture of the table and domestic rituals in the Netherlands
  • why historic objects continue to move us and remain relevant today
